Autism Behavior Services, Inc. offers a wide range of consultation services. Consultation services are provided to assist you with understanding autism, behavior services, and what best practice is for children on the Autism Spectrum.

Consultation

Autism Behavior Services, Inc. offers a wide range of consultation services. Consultation services are provided to assist you with understanding autism, behavior services, and what best practice is for children on the Autism Spectrum. 

It is a way for families to not feel so alone when they are presented with various information that they may have never seen before. At Autism Behavior Services, Inc. we want you to feel like we are with you every step of the way on your journey… because we are.

Consultation services may include the following:

  • Detailed accounts of your child’s goals and ABA program.
  • Explanations for why certain programs are in the ABA program.
  • Examples of what certain programs look like when a behavior therapist runs them.
  • Parent Training so that everybody “is on the same page” regarding how the programs are being run.
  • This can be done in multiple settings (school, community, home, social groups, etc.).
  • Observations will be done in the least invasive way possible for the student and parent.
  • Step-By-Step breakdown of what a parent can expect in an IEP.
  • Explanation of the service providers attending an IEP (and what their role is).
  • Discussion of the different types of IEPs that are done.
  • Topics are generally discussed at an IEP.
  • What happens if terms are agreed upon at an IEP meeting.
  • Steps taken if things are not resolved/agreed upon at an IEP meeting.
  • A broad approach is taken here so that the entire picture of the child can be considered.
  • Meeting with parents, school staff, psychologists, and other staff on the “IEP Team” so
    that all bases are covered regarding the child’s development.
  • Parents’ insight is sought so that a plan for the child can be developed that builds on itself year after year.
  • Can be done in-person or virtually.
  • Is flexible so that it works with your schedule.
  • Allows for consultation before and after the IEP meeting.
  • Is done with a collaborative approach in mind so that all parties can work together to
    enhance the development of the child.
  • Detailed explanations for why certain programs are being done during client sessions.
  • Explanations regarding the data behind the programs so that parents can see they have a proven track record of being effective.
  • Constant review of research-based interventions to monitor the effectiveness.
  • Fluidity in the interventions being run so that things can be changed if they are not
    working.
  • Data explained in easy-to-understand terms so that parents remain engaged every step of the way.
  • Programs are designed to find the best ways to help the child learn.
  • The programs are continually monitored to make sure they are being effective for the
    child.
  • Work in various classes will be reviewed to discuss modifications.
  • Benchmark meetings will happen throughout the year so that student progress can be
    monitored.
  • Members of the team will be able to contact one another to best plan and strategize for
    the students’ success.
  • Collaboration time will be built into all meetings so that everybody involved can be on
    the same page and working from the same information.
  • A client-centered approach will be taken at all times so that the full picture of the
    child/student always remains the top priority.
  • Explanation of what a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is and how it is
    administered.
  • Detailed breakdown of the data taken so that parents can better understand their child’s behaviors and why they might be occurring.
  • Explanations of the next steps once the FBA is completed
